About the event
💃 You will experience dancing your way together with us. It's not about learning new moves and steps; it's quite the opposite. It's about learning how to let your body move freely as it wants to.
💃 Rachel will guide you into movement with a mood boosting playlist 'ultimate feel-good music from 70s, 80s and 90s
to speak to your heart, soul and dancing feet. Discover how to dance your way and move parts of your body that don't get out much!
💃 Rachel Sparks is an award winning dancer/choreographer, dance teacher, embodiment educator, and dynamic relationship coach based in London. With an ethos of inclusivity and celebration of the body Rachel tends to work with people who wouldn’t usually consider themselves dancers. Whether working with unpaid carers, LGBTQ+ people or busy couples; Rachel seeks to help people shine brightly and find joy through dance and embodied awareness. She support her clients to make loving and compassionate choices towards themselves whilst learning to make friends with their bodies.
💃 Usually you'd find Rachel running around London delivering workshops and classes and running inclusive social dance events at The Royal Opera House. The new normal, however, has taken her offerings online; from early morning motivation classes to choreography courses for all bodies and abilities. She launched Dance for Everyone projects to keep unpaid carers and over 50s active during lockdown.
💃 Rachel gained her Dance BA (Hons) at Leeds University in 2007 and went on to work in the education and charity sector. She launched Rachel Sparks Dance in 2015, offering gender neutral Latin & Ballroom classes to the LGBTQ+ community. She has since developed her facilitation and coaching skills with The Embodied Facilitators Course in 2017. Rachel also co-creates dance performance with Henri Eisenhardt as duo Iron& Sparks; most recently winning acclaim at film festivals around the world for dance film Swivel (dir. Lois Norman).
