About the event

🍃 This experience is about learning what grief is and holding space for it in a small gathering.

We hold grief on our own most of the time, and sometimes we don't even realize that we are grieving as life keeps us busy. Last year has been particularly difficult; besides, it is still taboo in many circles. So I am delighted to have found Sarah and Tony. They have been holding grief circles, death discos, death cafe's and various love, life-affirming rituals in the past few years in London. I love their approach in connecting grief with love and is shinning through their art and work.

🍃 In this interactive workshop lead by Sarah and Tony Pletts, we will offer some simple exercises to encourage presence and connection (within distancing guidelines). This is an invitation to feel into the relationship between love and grief in your life. We ask you to this facilitated space to be present with whatever your emotional landscape holds, without trying to fix anything. This taster session is designed as an introduction to the practice of Grief Tending, which we offer in longer workshops.

Please bring an object that connects you to ‘what supports you in life’. It may be an object, a photograph, or something that you love.

🍃 Sarah Pletts holds Grief Tending spaces with Tony Pletts and others. Her ‘apprenticeship with grief’ has included the loss of parents, caring for family members, her own journey into chronic ill health and recovery. Sarah enjoys spaces where all of her feels included - both the exuberant person and the serious soul exploring mortality. She values creativity and kindness in the work of sitting with grief. She loves to walk the dog, dance wildly and feed crows.

🍃 Tony Pletts has been exploring complex emotional and geographical landscapes since travelling to China & Tibet in 1984. He is managing director of the art direction company Einstein’s Octopus and has also made travel documentaries for BBC Radio 4 on North Korea & Mongolia. He founded Love and Loss with Sarah in 2019, interlinking Grief Tending workshops on the one side and more playful immersive experiences on the other.
