The Monday Club - Sitting with Grief
An introductory workshop for learning to be with grief in a group and not pushing it away. Tissues might be needed.
Time & Location
08 Nov 2021, 19:30 – 21:30 GMT
About the event
Grief is a big emotion that can be held in groups despite common beliefs. There is something deeply nourishing about witnessing and holding each other while we get in touch with grief, especially if you have Sarah and Tony to hold the space for it. They are simply the best when it comes to grief and love rituals. I am absolutely delighted that they are again part of the Monday Club. You are in safe hands.
🎈We need a minimum of five people to hold this session. In case we don't get as many we will refund all tickets.

You do not have to have a specific reason to come. Bereavement is just one of many reasons to grieve. Grieving comes in many shapes and sizes, affecting us all differently. This is a taster workshop. Longer workshops are available for those who may be dealing with strong grief. Grief Tending in community works well as part of a system of support, but we encourage you to find any additional support you may need.
So often our feelings are hidden away in private, but we invite you to see what happens when we venture into the landscape of feelings together. When we give space to our grief and witness others do the same it can also allow us to connect more with our delight in life.
This is an interactive session to introduce and practice some of the skills of love… and Grief Tending. In the session everything is optional, but may include being curious about how we feel inside, being a little vulnerable, and touching into our feelings.
Sarah Pletts holds Grief Tending spaces with Tony Pletts and others. Her ‘apprenticeship with grief’ has included the loss of parents, caring for family members, her own journey into chronic ill health and recovery. Sarah enjoys spaces where all of her feels included - both the exuberant person and the serious soul exploring mortality. She values creativity and kindness in the work of sitting with grief. She loves to walk the dog, dance wildly and feed crows.
Tony Pletts has been exploring complex emotional and geographical landscapes since travelling to China & Tibet in 1984. He is managing director of the art direction company Einstein’s Octopus and has also made travel documentaries for BBC Radio 4 on North Korea & Mongolia. He founded Love and Loss with Sarah in 2019, interlinking Grief Tending workshops on the one side and more playful immersive experiences on the other. They hold Grief Tending Workshops and offer playful heart opening experiences. For more information see: www.loveandloss.co.uk.
The benefits of training our curiosity muscle together:
🎈 discover new layers of ourselves, others and gain new skills.
🎈 get to dip our toes into all these wonderful things that happen out there without breaking the bank or needing to commit to further courses.
🎈 learn how to approach life with curiosity, open mind even when dull moments arrive.
🎈 relax into your perfectly imperfect self. Mistakes will be embraces as God know we will do plenty of those.
🎈 the dinner table stories will be less boring. Our family will be grateful.
🎈 becoming more interesting, curious and attractive. Our current and future partners will love it.
🎈 but most importantly, we will keep being curious even when shit hits the fan.
"The Monday Club was an amazing experience! It became almost a habit to meet both new and familiar people in a cozy friendly circle. Facilitators were super interesting people, who softly and skilfully helped me to find something new about myself. And it was fun as well! Nora is the most joyful and caring person, who goes far and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend this experience! " Svetlana B.
