There has been a lot of talk about self-care in the last few years. It's a new thing for many of us. It can look in a million ways. I am all for self-care as I believe humans who are healthy on all levels and dimensions will be creating a #healthier #planet. Care for #yourself is an act of defiance that the #work, #health, #political, #education, #economic and #social systems don't support. And because it is not supported, it is a #luxury for those willing and aware to afford.
💝
In an ideal world, we would build systems to support our health/self-care, and we would teach in schools that all activities would need to be in line with that. We would #know ourselves so deeply that when opportunities/challenges arrive, we will choose #jobs, schools, partners, friends, locations that don't go against our nature. A girl can dream.
💝
But that doesn't mean we just give up. No. No. No. We can all do little things before we do bigger things. Here are a few ideas that don't cost money:
💝
Say NO to boring, energy-sucking social situations.
Have that chocolate/ice cream/drink whatever represents indulgence at the end of the week without guilt or shame.
Ask for help.
Love your quirky self and embrace it.
Sing in a car while you are stuck in traffic.
Say YES to the unexpected; you will learn something new.
Don't care what others think of you. At least try. It's hard but worth it.
Listen to your body a bit more.
Have more sex. Yep.
Sit silently without looking at a screen sometimes.
Have a good old laugh with an old friend.
Do something spontaneous.
Go out in nature.
Try to forgive yourself and others. We are all a mess.
Release that anger without harming others.
Support others in their journey. You will feel good about yourself.
Switch off your phone for a day.
Love, laugh and dance like you are going to die tomorrow.
